(For the record, I strongly disagree with the idea of a constant internet connection to play simply because of poor residental QOS that exists in the US -- but its not stopping me from buying it).

Obviously I understand that there are people who just want to play through the game once and beat it faster, but is that a majority of the people who are going to be buying loot with real money?
I could be wrong, I was never too into Diablo, but I knew a lot of people who were way into Diablo 2, and all they did was do runs of the bosses to get better loot. There was no post-loot getting game, after they got better loot they used it to get even better loot, and they used that to get better loot.
Except for HC players of course, but I don't even want to contemplate HC players buying loot.
tl;dr I thought the loot was the game, not a way to play the game
