We had a Santa Barbara/Los Angeles Shackmeet tonight at my apartment! Here is a writeup full of lies.
In attendance were:
itsjames (briefly) and crummynz (left and right, respectively): http://mysite.verizon.net/~pkasting/205%20happy%20happy%20joy%20joy.jpg
rasputinreborn: http://mysite.verizon.net/~pkasting/201%20rasputinreborn.jpg
angrytaxman;
as well as (of course) VenusK: http://mysite.verizon.net/~pkasting/202%20venusk.jpg
...and me.
I made sure people knew which apartment was the right one: http://mysite.verizon.net/~pkasting/200%20omghi2u!!!.jpg
As you can tell, most of the time was spent playing crummynz's copy of Guitar Hero. He brought a modded PS2 and two controllers, and even though he only had composite video :(, we still never found a reason to unpack angrytaxman's XBox 360. This made taxman sad: http://mysite.verizon.net/~pkasting/211%20emo%20taxman.jpg
However, the rest of us were too busy rocking out to care. Well at least crummynz and I were: http://mysite.verizon.net/~pkasting/206%20rocking%20out%201.jpg , http://mysite.verizon.net/~pkasting/207%20crummy%20solo.jpg
I think maybe VenusK and rasputinreborn were just trying to figure out how to play: http://mysite.verizon.net/~pkasting/203%20concentration.jpg
Finally angrytaxman decided to get into the action: http://mysite.verizon.net/~pkasting/204%20tax%20goes%20off.jpg
We then took some time off to play Settlers Of Catan at my request, since my hands were tired (not enough repetitive motion practice, if you get my drift) and I'm a big board game geek. This turned out to be a mistake as Shackers are incapable of playing a game which involves phrases such as "I've got wood for sheep" without, of course, USING those phrases, as well as every other possible suggestive wood and sheep joke, about 400 times per minute. The game took about four times as long as it should have, by which point we were hungry, so VenusK graciously drove out and brought back some Woodstock's Pizza (the popular choice was Meat Lover's Orgy, again for obvious reasons). Thanks to exigence7 for the suggestion, especially for the dessert pizza which was quite good, if artery-blocking.
After the game (which sadly I have no pictures of, though others took some), we went back to Guitar Hero again. I tried playing mine pedal steel style, which was easier for me as a keyboardist; crummynz found this way a bit tougher: http://mysite.verizon.net/~pkasting/208%20steel%20guitars.jpg
So in the end we went back to rocking out with our on-lots-of-drugs look: http://mysite.verizon.net/~pkasting/209%20rocking%20out%202.jpg
We even had a crazy guitar battle involving playing face to face and back to back, though the picture doesn't really capture that: http://mysite.verizon.net/~pkasting/210%20guitar%20battle.jpg
Finally it was time to go. I think crummynz's face expresses all of our feelings about that: http://mysite.verizon.net/~pkasting/212%20emo%20crummy.jpg
