For years, players have been saying that you don’t play Destiny 2, you get married to it. Well, Bungie was listening, and recently rolled out a new game design and marketing strategy to meet player demands with the latest DLC, Beyond Light.
One of biggest issues with Destiny 2 has always been the commitment required to stay in the loop with what’s going on in the game. Players sink thousands of hours into Bungie’s looter shooter, but potential players are often frightened away by the overwhelming amount of content. Thankfully, Bungie has their finger on the pulse of the community and has a solution.
With the launch of Beyond Light, Destiny 2 saw huge amounts of troublesome content removed from the game. Players no longer need worry about the time commitment to visit Mars, Io, Mercury, Titan, or the Leviathan. Up to 70 percent of weapons have been sunset, and more than 10 PvP maps were removed. Raids are gone, missions are gone, and much more. Bungie didn’t want to go too hard, though, so they did add in a few new activities to ease the shock.
Unfortunately, having less game to play comes at a cost. Players who want to enjoy Beyond Light can do so for $39.99 for just the DLC, or $49.99 for the DLC and season pass. I guess it really comes down to how badly each player wants to cut out all that time-consuming content.
