Nintendo Providing Hospital Gowns, Game Discounts for MAR10 Day
Mario and his crew to brighten some kids' days with more stylish hospital gowns.
Nintendo has announced its plans for "MAR10 Day," the annual celebration of all things Mario. This year, Nintendo is honoring the day by donating to the Starlight Children's Foundation, a nonprofit for hospitalized kids, as well as giving discounts on Mario games and a little social media branding.
It will be providing new designs for the Starlight Brave Gowns, letting kids sport characters like Mario, Luigi, Peach, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi on their hospital gowns instead of the traditional, less comfortable hospital gowns. It will also be providing a monetary donation to put those designs into action, with enough funding to make 2,000 of the new gowns.
For those of you at home, Nintendo will be offering a 20% discount on select digital Mario games through Amazon. The My Nintendo site will be offering Mario themed rewards, including discounts on Mario Kart 8 and MK8's second DLC pack. And if you visit Facebook, you can pick out a Mario frame for your profile photo.
MAR10 Day was coined by a bit of wordplay, as it falls on March 10 (MAR 10) of each year. It joins other punny and referential fan celebration days as Back to the Future Day (October 21) and Star Wars Day (May 4).
