Mass Effect: Andromeda Briefing Trailer Shows Golden Worlds
The briefing is for the Andromeda Initiative, which explains what the Pathfinder teams will be doing to get planets ready for colonization.
The Andromeda Initiative was established as the pretext for Mass Effect: Andromeda's mission to a new galaxy looking for suitable habitats. A new trailer for the game talks about the seven Golden Worlds uncovered in the Helius Cluster, where the missions in the game will take place.
Narrated by Suvi, the tech officer for the game's Pathfinder team, is meant to explain to potential colonists what the project is looking for, and ultimately what it has discovered, leading to the Pathfinder missions. The seven worlds, labeled Habitats 1-7, are supposedly ideally suited for habitation and high in mineral content to support the Initiative and the Nexus going forward. According to the video, the more minerals gathered allows for expansion of the Nexus and the awakening of more colonists from cryosleep.
The briefing describes the various worlds and how they will be suitable, with Habitat 7 being a tropical paradise and the first target of the Pathfinders teams 600 years in the future. Of course that's after the Pathfinder teams "pacify threats and align with potential indigenous populations to solving environmental problems in an attempt to secure suitable placement for settlement outposts."
Of course, the caveat as that some of these worlds could already belong to other races, and that "respect" will need to be accorded to them. It will be interesting to see how the word is defined once the missions kick off and player choice becomes involved.
The video is just another example with the depth of story BioWare is trying to establish for the next Mass Effect games, post-Cmdr. Shepard. Mass Effect: Andromeda will be releasing on PS4, Xbox One and PC on March 21.

FYI, if you care at all, this is the last of the briefing videos for the Andromeda Initiative, so if you want a special helmet you can go to https://www.masseffect.com/andromeda-initiative and watch all 6 videos to get one.

Thx for the headsup, deject! Watching all of these certainly ratcheted up my interest for this sequel, though I got a very strong taste of comfort food bliss – rather than excitement in seeing something new – as it looked like a lot of the mechanics, guns, ship areas etc I'm familiar with from ME1 & 2 are repeated here. Gotta start ME3 soon I guess!
