Offworld Trading Company has created a bit of a niche for itself as a unique mix of city-building, stock-trading, real-time-strategy game without the combat. It has a loyal following of fans, and developer Mohawk Games has used a design from a player named Blues for its lastest DLC, Blue Chip Ventures.

“Blues is a top-tier player,” Mohawk CEO and OTC lead designer Soren Johnson said. “He used inspiration from the Daily Challenges to craft these interesting and strategic scenarios. Blue Chip Ventures is going to make even the most veteran players work hard for their victories.”

The DLC focuses on specific areas of gameplay in the new scenarios, and is not meant for the casual player. Key strategies include 

• Supply & Demand: Focus on monopolizing resources and learn the right times to shift focus to keep ahead of the competition.
• Play Well with Others: Learn both how to handle opponents and also how to work together with others as a team.
• Long-term Planning: Deal with debt strategies and turn around a losing game through careful planning.

“Predicting markets, sabotaging your opponents, and breaking monopolies is only the start,” said Johnson. “There are also complex “challenges” in the DLC that require you to take what you already know and build on what you’ve learned from the other scenarios in order to beat them.”

The DLC is available now on Steam and sells for $4.99,
