Supposedly, The Nintendo Switch Will Be Easier To Find Than The NES Classic
Still, you might want to make sure you've gotten your preorders in if you haven't already.
Nintendo of America’s Reggie Fils-Aime has an important message to share with fans looking to purchase a Nintendo Switch, the company’s latest home and portable console. In an interview with Wired, Fils-Aime has confirmed that the stock issues that plagued the NES Classic Edition shouldn’t be a problem with the Nintendo Switch.
According to Fils-Aime, Nintendo has readied two million consoles for the first month the Switch is out on the market, shipping worldwide so as to prevent the same kind of shortages we saw with the NES Classic Edition.
Speaking on the NES Classic, Fils-Aime noted that the company had previously thought the target audience for the product would be 30 and 40 years old and not the massive amount of people who were clamoring for more NES games for both the nostalgic effect and the idea that it’s awesome-looking. The demand really took Nintendo by surprise, according to Reggie, but this time the company will supposedly be ready for the demand.
It’s an interesting statement, considering preorders are basically sold out everywhere at the moment with no current indication that they’ll be coming back soon.

Seems right. Tons of posts in chatty about people being able to grab one. 2 million units is a lot to go around. The Gamestop I preordered at had 40 systems.
Given that they stopped Wii U production, and it seems they slowed up DS production, there should be enough to go around this time. Demand seems to be healthy, but not sucking up all inventory. I'd say that has a lot to do with the launch titles more than anything.-

Here you go, 2 million is worldwide.

That's what I figured, ww.
But... Ugh... This statement:
Because again, how many times have you purchased the original Super Mario Bros.? We thought that the consumer that already had a Wii or a Wii U and had purchased those games once or twice already, we didn’t think that they’d buy the NES Classic. And they did.
That's not encouraging for people that want to play previously bought VC titles.
Before that says
What I would say first is, we recognize that some of our most passionate fans have spent quite a bit, whether it’s with Virtual Console on Wii or Wii U, and we recognize that consumers are rightly concerned about moving to Nintendo Switch without backward compatibility. My comment is: Stay tuned, we understand the concern, more information to come.
So, I think they're trying to figure out how to market to those people to re-re-re-buy the same game yet again. Sigh.

Really? Then factor in Walmart and Best Buy (other brick and mortar places the sell a ton of systems) and it would seem like the US got the majority of units.
Then again, they can probably ship into JP faster than to the US, so I guess it might make sense to front load the US more than JP where they can keep stock flowing easier. This is just an assumption. I don't know.
