Every Game Confirmed for the Nintendo Switch
From Sonic to basketball, here's a rundown of all the games set to release on the Nintendo Switch.
The Nintendo Switch reveal event was an hour-long stream of information about Nintendo’s new system, releasing details about everything from the Joy-Con technology to some of the games we’re expecting to see over the next few years.
Because news has a way of confirming itself long after the eventual news rush of an event, here’s a total list of the games announced for Nintendo’s new console/portable hybrid.
Splatoon 2
The sequel to 2015’s Splatoon, Splatoon 2 features a number of new features, including special weapons, new maps, and more of the iconic squid kid attitude Splatoon is known for. Look for it Summer 2017.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
The latest installment in the classic Legend of Zelda franchise takes us to a new adventure in Hyrule’s sweeping plains, bringing all-new puzzles, quests, and realms to explore. Learn more about Breath of the Wild in our E3 preview.
Project Octopath Traveler
Square Enix’s new RPG mixes a classic pixelated graphical style with a more traditional style of JRPG Square Enix is known for. We’re still awaiting details on this one, but Square’s show of faith in the console is a step in the right direction.
Fire Emblem Warriors
Mixing the likes of Fire Emblem and Dynasty Warriors, Fire Emblem Warriors will likely ape the ideas of Hyrule Warriors and mix those two elements to create an action-focused third-person game featuring key characters from the Fire Emblem franchise. At this time, we know very little about the game itself, but it’s safe to assume we’ll know more soon.
Shin Megami Tensei
Like so many of the others on this list, we’re still awaiting more information about Atlus’ new Shin Megami Tensei game. Its trailer showed off a handful of characters in a quick cinematic, leaving us with very little else to go on. Hopefully we learn more soon.
Skyrim
We first saw Skyrim running on the Switch during the announcement trailer, and last night they confirmed it will, in fact, operate on the Nintendo Switch hardware. Hopefully this signals Bethesda’s willingness to put more ports of their open-world games on the Switch.
Steep
Ubisoft’s extreme winter sports game will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch as part of Ubisoft’s third-party support offerings, along with Just Dance 2017 and Rayman Legends Definitive Edition.
Just Dance 2017
This party dancing game will be available on the Switch this year and bring the same popular song-ridden gameplay as before.
Rayman Legends Definitive Edition
Ubisoft’s beloved platformer is coming to the Switch with enhanced options and features. Read our Rayman Legends review to learn more.
Super Mario Odyssey
An all-new 3D Mario, Odyssey sees Mario exploring worlds unfamiliar to him, including our own. Come for the Mario platforming, stay to find out exactly what that mysterious hat of his is up to.
1,2 Switch
A game exclusively using the rumble technology inside each individual Joy-Con, 1,2 Switch is a multiplayer game in which players face off against each other in duels using the controllers. The game doesn’t use screens, making it exclusively a test of reflexes.
Arms
A new take on boxing, Arms is a competitive multiplayer game using the motion control capabilities of the Joy-Con. Each player has a pair of elongated, ribboned arms and face off against each other as they try to dodge and deliver punches.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
The Wii U version of Mario Kart 8 is coming to the Nintendo Switch with a host of new features and options. New maps, new characters--including King Boo and the Inklings from Splatoon--will be available, and the once-lamented battle mode has been overhauled for this new version.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
The sequel to the 2010 Wii JRPG, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 brings with it some of the familiar future cities, giant structures, and airy, open fields seen in previous entries. At this point, we’re still awaiting more plot and gameplay details.
Super Bomberman R
Classic Bomberman gameplay returns in Super Bomberman R, a top-down, 3D Bomberman game that can support up to 8 players at the same time.
FIFA 18
EA’s popular soccer series returns with new features on the Nintendo Switch, along with all other major platforms.
Arcade Archives
This collection of classic Arcade games from HAMSTER compiles some of the notable games from Konami, Taito, and Technos Japan, among others.
Constructor
An updated version of the PC/PS1 RTS, is coming to the Nintendo Switch along with the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Cube Life: Island Survival
This open-world sandbox game in a similar style to Minecraft will be available on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in Q1 2017.
Disgaea 5 Complete
The definitive edition of this tactical RPG installment in the Disgaea series will be available on the Nintendo Switch in Q1 2017.
Dragonball Xenoverse 2
A massively multiplayer game with fighting and RPG elements, Dragonball Xenoverse 2 is the sequel to 2015’s Dragonball Xenoverse.
Farming Simulator
Focus Home Interactive’s tranquil farming game will see a release on the Nintendo Switch, although at this point in time it’s unclear which edition of the game it will be.
Fast RMX
Fast RMX is the fast-paced anti-gravity vehicle racing game featuring 30 diverse tracks that supports local and online multiplayer. Look for ths on the Switch to satisfy your F-Zero needs.
Has Been Heroes
This roguelike focuses on a core set of heroes as they escort twin princesses to the Princess Academy, ensuring their safe passage by fighting the enemies who appear in their way. Control these three heroes, combining their spells and abilities in ultimate combos. Look for it in March.
I Am Setsuna
A JRPG in a similar vein to the classics, I Am Setsuna is one of the newer RPGs created by Tokyo RPG Factory in partnership with Square Enix. Read our review to learn more.
Just Dance 2017
Ubisoft’ epic party game will feature a lineup of modern pop hits to dance to on the Nintendo Switch. Just Dance will release alongside Steep and Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition.
Lego City Undercover
Goofy, endearing storytelling and compelling gameplay go hand in hand with the Lego games, and this unique police story set in the Lego Universe wraps them both in a fun, light-hearted package. Originally released on the Wii U, Undercover will soon be available on Nintendo Switch.
Minecraft
Mojang’s smash hit sandbox game Minecraft will expand its reach to virtually any and all platforms today by eventually releasing on the Nintendo Switch. With it, you’ll be able to take advantage of the Switch’s portability and take it with you on the go.
NBA 2K18
2K’s basketball series expands with a release on the Nintendo Switch. Build your own athlete and compete in Career mode, manage a team of your own, and use strategies to become the best in basketball. Look for NBA 2K18 this September.
Pokemon Stars
The codename for a rumored Pokemon console game, Pokemon Stars was first hinted at about a year ago and has since been hinted at by listings on GameStop’s website that have now been taken down. Rumor suggests Stars is a reworked version of the recently-released Pokemon Sun and Moon on the Nintendo 3DS.
Project Sonic 2017
The second new Sonic game set to debut this year, Project Sonic 2017 is a 3D platformer created by Sonic Team coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch.
Puyo Puyo Tetris
This inventive Tetris game mixes the best of Tetris and Sega to create a game with several different modes, options, and online competitive games.
Rime
This sweeping platform adventure game will release on Nintendo’s new console alongside the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Seasons of Heaven
Developed by French studio Any Arts Production, Seasons of Heaven is an adventure game based on a novel of the same name by author Nico Agusto.
Shovel Knight
Yacht Club Games’ celebrated Throwback Platformer will be available on the Nintendo Switch as Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, a compilation of the original Shovel Knight plus two campaigns featuring Plague Knight and Spectre of Torment. This version will also have a handful of new features, like co-op and the ability to switch between heroes.
Skylanders Imaginators
The 3D toys-to-life game will see an entirely new release on the Nintendo Switch, complete with the peripherals allowing kids and adults to transport their own figures into the game.
Snipperclips
A cooperative puzzle game, Snipperclips is a game in which two players work together to cut paper characters into different shapes in order to solve puzzles.
Sonic Mania
A throwback to the days of classic Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Mania combines the very best of Sonic, Sonic 2, Sonic CD, and Sonic 3 with new levels and features to create a game recalling the greatest of classic 2D Sonic.
Stardew Valley
The farming/life sim game Stardew Valley will be available on the Nintendo Switch. Take your farm on the go and explore the mysteries of the valley with the friends you make in town using the Switch’s portable mode.
Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers
A remixed version of the original, Street Fighter 2 on the Nintendo Switch will feature overhauled graphics, new characters, cooperative play, and new modes.
Syberia 3
This enchanting 3D adventure game will offer a great number of puzzles and opportunities to explore a bizarre, unique world.
