Rocket League surpasses 25 million players, 1 billion matches
The indie title continues to score with fans who can't get enough of cars bashing soccer balls.
If you like playing Rocket League, you obviously are not alone. Developer Psyonix has revealed that the game has surpassed 25 million players, who have in turn kicked off more than 1 billion matches.
Not bad for a indie title that launched in mid-2015 with the premise of vehicles pushing enlarged balls around a soccer-style field. The tweet from the official account goes hand-in-hand with recent pronouncements from Sony and Steam about the popularity of the title. The PS4 version of the game was the top seller on the PlayStation Store in 2016, while the PC version was listed as a Platinum-level revenue generator - a top 12 game - on Steam.
Psyonix just released the latest 1.27 update for the game earlier this week with several bug fixes and an update playlist.
