ASUS has announced a new 4K monitor at CES 2017 with game enthusiasts in mind. The ROG Swift PG27UQ 27-inch 4K HDR monitor features G-Sync and a high refresh rate of 144Hz. One of the major issues with 4K gaming, other than the massive overhead needed to run games at that resolution, is that 4K HDR screens have had issues with lower response time and refresh rates compared to their 1080p brethren. ASUS has managed to overcome the technical barriers to these problems, and the ROG Swift promises to combine the high fidelity of 4K resolution with the fast response time gamers have come to expect from performance monitors.

The ASUS ROG Swift PG27UQ will be one of only two monitors on the market that use NVIDIA’s new G-Sync HDR technology. The PG27UQ also uses quantum-dot technology, which with HDR will support the DCI-P3 color gamut that offers a 25% higher color range than sRGB. The monitor uses an IPS screen and features two DisplayPort 1.4 inputs and one HDMI port.

ASUS hasn’t released a price or release date for the ROG Swift PG27UQ yet. I’m assuming with the feature set it will be in the $900-$1200 range, and from the language in the press release, I would look for it to arrive soon.
