Final Fantasy Creator Hironobu Sakaguchi Says Final Fantasy XV is His Game of the Year
Final Fantasy creator loves the legacy his original Final Fantasy spawned.
Hironobu Sakaguchi may have parted ways with Square Enix years ago, but he still appreciates the products they make. Although Sakaguchi hasn't always agreed with the direction Final Fantasy has gone he's given his 2016 game of the year pick to Final Fantasy XV.
When speaking to 4Gamer he stated:
“I’m actually playing Final Fantasy XV, and it’s fun! By watching the movie, I was drawn into the world view even more.”
He also teased a announcing his new game soon. Sakaguchi is currently President of Mistwalker Corporation who is currently at work on a console version of its mobile JRPG Terra Battle. Mistwalker has also partnered with Bravely Default developer Silicon Studio on a "new game." Whether or not this new game is Terra Battle, or another new project hasn't been revealed yet, but I'm excited to see what comes out of a partnership between the two studios.
Final Fantasy XV also made our Game of the Year 2016 list. Check out the rest of our Game of the Year picks on our GOTY 2016 countdown below.
