Blizzard Confirms Tracer is Gay in New Overwatch Holiday Comic
Tumblr's been speculating for a long time, but Blizzard has confirmed it in the clearest way possible.
In a recent holiday special edition comic, the creators at Blizzard have canonically confirmed Tracer as being a gay woman.
It was revealed during a moment in the comic when she shares a passionate kiss with her partner while opening gifts, as seen in the image below.
Blizzard has been alluding to the fact that an openly gay character exists in Overwatch for some time, first with rumors and then with hints alluding to the fact that it would be revealed soon.
Being that Tracer is the leading character used in all of Overwatch’s marketing and often featured specifically in key art and features, her being confirmed as canonically queer is actually a big deal for the visibility of LGBT characters in fiction. The runaway success of Overwatch especially could lead to more visible queer characters across media in general.
Overwatch recently saw a Holiday Update adding in a number of festive holiday-themed features, including new skins, sprays, emotes, and decorated levels.

Even when a company tries to be inclusive, the internet finds a way to be a cunt bag... The internet always finds a way.

I'm cool with this. At least as long as I still have a chance with Mercy.

Because they thought it would be cool to do and people have really connected with the characters. There are loads of people who don't even play the game but love the cast. This translates to people at events like Blizzcon who otherwise would never watch competitive esports watching competitive Overwatch.
Its interesting to note that half of the questions at the Blizzcon panel were the standard ones about balance, meta, etc. The other half where about how diverse the cast was, how people related to certain characters, etc etc. Its like Star Wars or Harry Potter or Marvel or LotR or anything else. -

FYI, apparently someone tweeted at Blizzard and they said that the kids Reinhardt is reading to we actually Torbjorn's kids. I'm assuming Rein doesn't have a family any longer? :(

The word you are looking for is alluding, not eluding.
The latter is something a running back does. The former is something Blizzard did when it had the courage to put forth lipstick lesbians on the forefront, which is about as helpful as putting Jake Gyllenhaal in the Prince of Persia. -

If they had picked anyone else (Zarya for instance, since so many thought it would be her), people would be pissed because they didn't make it the main character of the game, and instead chose a relatively hidden character. Now they say Tracer and people are upset because they say it feels cheap.
Gamers.
