PlayStation Experience 2016: The Last of Us Part II Reveal Trailer
Joel and Ellie are back at it again.
PlayStation Experience 2016's PlayStation Showcase ended with a huge reveal. The Last of Us Part II was revealed in a trailer featuring Ellie and Joel sometime after the events of The Last of Us.
The game is said to be in a very early state of development and not even a tentative release date was mentioned. It seems that The Last of Us Part II will center around vengeance, as Ellie makes a comment about not stopping until she kills everyone of some group. Which group? Who knows? Hopefully we'll find out more on Naughty Dog's sequel to the hit game The Last of Us soon.

This reaction has always confused me. I love survival horror and stealth games, and I thought TLOU delivered on both. It wasn't ambitious but didn't need to be; its mechanics were straightforward and tight. It was my favorite game of 2013 and not just because of the excellent story.
If story is all you're after in a video game, just watch a Let's Play on YouTube. Games are meant to be played, and TLOU is excellent.-

Ehh. I found the gameplay fairly derivative and a little on the bland side. Nothing really all that new, no real hook. Pretty standard 3rd person gameplay (uncharted, tomb raider etc). But that was fine because the non-gameplay part was the (massive) hook for me.
I disagree with just watching it on youtube (although Ive watched all the key set pieces several times since) though... that (at least basic) level of personal involvement and progression is important (imo) and does contribute to the experience for sure.

No UHD playback sucks, but in hindsight Sony stopped caring about media with the OG PS4 when they didn't even make a proper remote for it.
There isn't much of a reason for PS4 Pro outside of VR right now. More and more games will start taking advantage of the hardware though, Horizon for sure. Who knows, there might be an even faster PS4 out in three or four years when Death Stranding and TLOU 2 finally ship. -

I'm just going to buy a dedicated UHD player when the time comes. I have an Oppo for Blu Ray right now and its way better than even the PS3 as a media player: https://www.oppodigital.com/uhd/
I'm still unhappy that Sony won't be doing UHD but they clearly had a price that they wanted to hit.

I expect that the mp for this game will be the best ever and I mean it will literally be the best mp ever. It will have a small, extremely dedicated following, but it will be largely ignored by the millions of people who buy the title for the campaign.
Little known fact: NaughtyDog makes really fucking good mp.

I've seen that theory tossed about elsewhere also. I like it. It could explain why she didn't react to the sudden appearance of someone (Joel). She didn't even look to see if it was someone she may have missed. She's basically on a revenge spree. But then again, some of the early trailers for Last of Us had scenes that weren't in the game.

That kind of red herring would be awesome. I'd love it if they took it farther and he was killed and she was a bit insane from the whole thing. Mental illness is rarely portrayed in a serious light in video games so it would be interesting to play as a protagonist that had to deal with it in addition to all the other problems that exist in The Last of Us universe.
