PlayStation 4 Continues to Lead in Sales Over Xbox With Cyber Monday Numbers
Who could resist that PS4 Pro deal?
Data-tracking firm Adobe Digital Insights has reported that the PlayStation 4 was the big winner on Cyber Monday. Not only did Sony's console outpace the Xbox One, but it was also the best-selling consumer electronics in online sales.
A big part of this was likely the attractive discounts Sony offered and the fact that companies had enough stock to allow customers to take advantage of the sale. I was going to put off buying a PlayStation 4 Pro until after the holidays, but with $60 off the MSRP I just had to pull the trigger, so Sony's tactics definitely worked on me.
The Xbox One didn't fare poorly, though. Microsoft's console outsold the PlayStation 4 on Black Friday and came in second among consumer electronic purchases on Cyber Monday. The numbers still show Sony ahead for November, but Microsoft certainly isn't hurting.
Adobe Digital Insights stated that this Cyber Monday was the biggest online shopping day ever. Over $3.36 billion dollars were spent online on Monday, which tops last year's total by 0.8%. As people continue to tire of the brick-and-mortar riots that are the traditional Black Friday experience, we can only expect even higher digital sales as the years go by.
