Grand Theft Auto IV for PC Gets First Update in Six Years

Keep bowlin' bowlin' bowlin' What?

If you've been thinking about your cousin Niko lately, now might be a good time to take him bowling. Yesterday Rockstar pushed a new patch for Grand Theft Auto IV for the PC. This is the first patch for the game since May 2010, so if you had trouble with bugs then and still happen to have the same PC, Rockstar has belatedly heard your pleas for a fix.

If you were hoping for any sort of significant changes with patch 8, you're in for a disappointment. The patch deals with performance and compatibility, which is good news for those wanting to play on Windows 8, 8.1, or 10. It also fixes a bug that makes the mission "Out of Commission" impossible to complete if the framerate goes over 60fps.

Unfortunately, the patch doesn't change the fact you have to use Games for Windows Live still with GTA 4. But hey, it's always good to see older games get some TLC.

I noticed Defcon got a small patch yesterday when I was looking at Steam and I thought "Huh".

I never finished the game because of that final mission bug. I can't believe that only got fixed now. Don't think I'll be going back to it.

At least they're still fixing bugs.

I just had a bitch of a time dealing with some well known bugs in ME2. The only way to get around one of them was to modify the save file to put me back on the Normandy.
