Nintendo Switch motion controls apparently confirmed by GameStop CEO
GameStop CEO Paul Raines may have just let the cat out of the bag regarding the Nintendo Switch's possible support for motion controls.
It appears previously-leaked patents for the Nintendo Switch may have revealed the console’s hidden motion controls feature, but comments made by GameStop CEO Paul Raines might add some credence to the patent.
During a GameStop investor relations call, Raines discussed how the Nintendo Switch could potentially expand the gaming audience in a similar way to the Nintendo Wii. “A movement-related game is more fun for kids, you know, taking those accessories off, you can really do a lot of interesting things with that in gameplay.” The accessories Raines was talking about was the Switch’s detachable controllers.
Since the launch of the Wii, Nintendo has bet big on motion controls, although many of its recent titles haven’t had much support for the feature. Considering the Wii U had support for motion controls, we have a feeling the Switch will continue this trend if only to support legacy titles, that is, as long as you own digital versions of Wii U games.
