New Final Fantasy XV trailer highlights everything we need to know
There's a lot going on in Final Fantasy XV, but its new 101 trailer lays it all out for us in an easy-to-understand way.
Square Enix has launched a new trailer for Final Fantasy XV that takes an extended look at the game’s characters, gameplay mechanics, and more.
The Final Fantasy XV 101 Trailer appears to be the ideal video for those who haven’t kept tabs on the game to learn what it’s all about. It introduces us to its world, characters, and the ongoing conflict that requires Noctis and his friends to rely on each other in order to survive. Speaking of Noctis’ pals, each one receives a nice introduction and highlight in today’s 101
We’re also introduced to Final Fantasy XV’s combat system, which combines magic, summons, and real-time battle action. The combat system is supposed to be user-friendly, although it has hidden depths for those who want to get more out of it. Players will be able to combine their weapons and magic along with the abilities of their friends to be effective in battle.
Side quests, summons, magic, mini-games, and ascension are just some of the other in-game mechanics that are highlighted in today’s trailer.
Final Fantasy XV is scheduled to release on PlayStation 4 on November 29, 2016.

Wow, it really is like they're betting the entire company on this one release. I just can't imagine how much the marketing budget is on this thing. On the one hand, it's really impressive for an RPG to get this much marketing. On the other hand, it's too much. Plus, I'm just not a fan of where they're going with the combat system. Just start a spin-off and make a FF ARPG line instead. Don't butcher FF's classic ATB to migrate it to ARPG twitch mechanics.

I think it looks totally fine. The changes to the battle system from 10 onward haven't been the problem, imo. It's that hey're really shooting themselves in the foot with the unlikable main character and his annoying comedy sidekick. Shitty characters have been the primary problem for people taking these games seriously since they implemented voice acting.
The convoluted, ridiculous stories could even be saved if you didn't want all the characters to die in a fiery explosion.-
Yeah, but I haven't had quite as much of a problem with the characters as others have. Moving away from classic ATB on the other hand just wrecks it for me. It's very different style of play that I'm not as interested in. And, I get that I'm in the minority, and probably it's the older guys that may feel this way. If I want twitch/pew pew action, I'll play that.

This and the main character design is proof that despite all their lip service, their primary concern is the Japanese market. But that's strange given the Japanese market doesn't seem large enough to make their money back on AAA games of this size.
But then, you can't expect logic in game making from a company that has 10 year, massively mismanaged development cycles.
Man, I'm bitter. -

One minute in and it's already way to Japanese for me.
You are Prince Nachos of the Guggenheim dynasty. You and your NPC friends drive around in a car to explore the world of Rhombulus. Forced to defend your homeland of Doodoooplis from the evil invading Nippleheim Empire with nothing but the power of friendship and hair gel, get ready to embark on an fantasy adventure that's based in reality (the fuck?) so we can have magic and technology, and it's still totally cool thanks to the mighty power of Blabbadabbery and the high tech prowless of the Barfdangle Corporate Alliance.
