Unused Virtua Fighter characters have just been discovered
After nearly 25 years since its release, Virtua Fighter still has a trick or two up its sleeves.
Sega’s Virtua Fighter released nearly 25 years ago, but this week, fighting-game modder Jed Hudson discovered some completely unused characters in the game.
Through modding, Hudson was able to find one fighter who only showed up in prototype versions of Virtua Fighter: Siba. Siba was supposed to be included in Virtua Fighter, but he was ultimately replaced with Akira Yuki just prior to the game’s release. Additional characters include a model of a man wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses and what appears to be unused Boss characters.
It’s incredible to see a game this old still hold secrets, especially now that there’s proof of Siba’s existence in the original Virtua Fighter.
