Animal Crossing: New Leaf welcomes amiibo support starting today
A huge update to Animal Crossing: New Leaf has been released, and with it, we can expect support for amiibo scanning, new areas, new furniture, and more.
Nintendo has announced a free update for Animal Crossing: New Leaf is releasing this morning that will allow for amiibo support and further expands on the game world.
The update for Animal Crossing: New Leaf will allow the 16 Animal Crossing series amiibo figures to become special guests in each player’s game, each of which will live in their own RV in the new Harvey’s campground section. When they’re scanned into the game, Wisp will invite them into your game.
Players will be able to interact with their new neighbors whenever they like and can gain access to a number of new games, including Desert Island Escape and Animal Crossing Puzzle League. Visiting these characters will also allow for special interactions, including buying exclusive furniture with Meow Coupons.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf has also received some new features, such as the new amiibo Camera mode, a new storeroom, and the ability to move furniture around using the 3DS’ touch screen. Those with an Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer save file can also link their save data to New Leaf, which rewards players with 20 new pieces of furniture to buy.
