Shuhei Yoshida took to Twitter to make the announcement that Playstation fans have waited years to hear. The Last Guardian has gone gold.

Shuhei Yoshida, President of Worldwide Studios at Sony Interactive Entertainment, took to social media this evening to announce that Sony has completed development of The Last Guardian.

The Last Guardian has been victim to multiple delays and originally began development as a Playstation 3 title. Multiple delays alongside the departure of the game's creative director, Fumito Ueda, and executive producer, Yoshifusa Hayama, have tarnished some of the hype surrounding this title. It remains to be seen if the extra time allocated to development will prove to be worth it.

Are you still excited for The Last Guardian? Do you think the delays and transition from a PS3 to PS4 title will hurt the overall quality? Let us know in the comments section.

The Last Guardian finally launches on December 6th exclusively on Sony PlayStation 4.

Cool, its been such a long road for them, I am very happy they finally completed their game, congrats.

I wonder if the PS4 Pro will get a juiced up version?

I am extremely skeptical of this release. The game began development as a PS3 title. Unless they completely gutted it, I expect it to look like an early PS4/late PS3 release. We'll see soon enough!

They did completely gut it at one point.

They did drag Czerny in on it, so it should be smoothed out technically at the least.

I don't see why the graphical fidelity really matters. Ico and SOTC are classics because the game design is impeccable.

That version was cancelled back in the PS3 era. The design could be the same, but the current-iteration was developed for PS4.

I can see why you would think that way, but really its sort of normal(not the length of dev mind you, but a tech change/ or platform). My own game started out as DX9/32bit and then went to DX11/OpenGL/64bit and will end up with DX12 + Vulkan, that is just how it goes.

From what I heard they gutted most of the visuals and animation, well just check out the PS4 gameplay vid below and judge for your self.

To me it looks EPIC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28_FP8Uk2ck

I personally can not wait, game development is really tough and shit like this with platform switches can happen and is a big set back(like freaking huge PS3 -> PS4) the fact they finished it and it looks really good to me is a big achievement.

Their previous games jumped generations and we're fucking awesome. It's not an issue.

Awesome! Are there any outstanding fabled vaporware projects that we're waiting on? DNF's out, TF2 came out forever ago, Daikatana (lol @ 3 years in the oven!), Doom 4 rocks, FFXV and LG release later this year. Is there anything else people were hyped for that hasn't surfaced?
