For Honor will no longer have split-screen co-op
Fans of split-screen co-op games will have to look elsewhere for their fix as For Honor is dropping it to better support its online co-op feature.
Ubisoft Montreal has announced it has cut split-screen co-op from its upcoming strategic combat title, For Honor.
The announcement comes from For Honor producer Stephane Cardin who was interviewed by Ubisoft for a recap of its recent Closed Alpha. During the interview, Cardin speaks about all of the tweaks his team needs to make based on player feedback, which he then suddenly shifts into having to make “a very difficult decision.”
“...we decided this week to cut the split screen,” Cardin says during the interview. “It was a feature that we loved, but when we look [at] what needs to be done to support online co-op, for us, it was critical to make the decision now so we can polish all the features at the AAA level and make sure that we have the most amazing experience.”
It’s a shame to see For Honor having to ditch its promise of split-screen co-op as many fans of the game were looking forward to enjoying the thrills of combat with a couch co-op buddy. While there’s still the online co-op planned, which appears to be one of the major pillars of For Honor, we can’t help but a little disappointed in today’s news.
