Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered requires Infinite Warfare disc to play

Of course, by that we're sure Activision means the Infinite Warfare disc is required for the physical version of the game. We can't imagine this being the case for its digital versions.

Fans of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare are excited to play through its remastered version when Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare releases next month, but it appears those who purchase the physical version of the game may need to keep their disc in their console to play it.

According to some newly-discovered legal wording found on the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered website, we’re learning even though the title will be a digital download, players will need to have their disc inserted into their console in order to play it in addition to an internet connection.

Activision previously revealed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered would not be sold as a separate game, and instead will be included with the premium editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. While reports came in back in September that it could be getting a standalone version after all, the publisher was quick to squash these rumors by saying it had nothing new to report.

It doesn’t make much sense to require the Infinite Warfare disc to be inserted into a player’s console in order to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, especially since it’s a digital download. Hopefully Activision changes this strange stipulation, although if it doesn’t, console owners should seriously consider purchasing the digital version of Infinite Warfare to save them from having to have its physical disc inserted all the time.

It makes perfect sense from a sales perspective for Activision. I have heard people talk about buying the game, opening it up in Game Stop, taking out the key, selling the game disc as used back to Game Stop. All so they can get the remastered version since they don’t care about the new game. If they require the disc then it stops all those used copies from being available for $55. When you ran the last story I kinda figured they would require a disc to play the remake to force more sales.
