Dead Rising 4's Frank West is evolving with a new voice actor
We don't know who it is yet, but it's not the same guy from the first three games.
Frank West is returning to his roots of Williamette, Colorado, in Dead Rising 4. The game is set 16 years since the original, which means West is not the same man he used to be. Capcom felt that meant a change of direction was needed for the voice actor.
As part of a weekly Fan QA, Dead Rising Asset Manager Trant Lee-Amies said that Capsom wanted a more "grizzled, older take" on West, which mean that previous voice actor TJ Rotolo is not returning. "It's no disrespect to history or previous actors -- TJ has done a bang-up job," he said. "It was a chance to with a new game to progress the franchise as best we can with a different vision."
Capcom hasn't revealed who the new actor is yet, but so far, it appears they are happy with his work. "We think Frank's new voice actor has done a phenomenal job, and we can't wait to share more of him with you in the future." Lee-Amies said.
Of course, games change voice actors all the time. Splinter Cell: Blacklist replaced Michael ironside with a new voice for Sam Fisher, and the latest Thief removed Stephen Russell as Garrett. But die hard fans usually don;t like change, so we'll have to see how this one plays out.
