Gran Turismo Sport being forced to enter pit road with delay announcement
Gran Turismo Sport won't be releasing in 2016, and instead, is now scheduled to release in 2017.
Sony and Polyphony Digital have announced Gran Turismo Sport is being delayed until 2017.
Polyphony Digital founder Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed Gran Turismo Sport appears to be a much more ambitious game than the studio previously considered.
“...as we approach our planned release date in November, we realize we need more time to perfect GT Sport, which we’ve already dedicated so much effort towards since announcing the title.” Yamauchi-san says in a statement acquired by Shacknews. “We do not want to compromise the experience in any way. While we cannot confirm a new release date at this time, we are more committed than ever to making GT Sport the best Gran Turismo game to date.”
Gran Turismo Sport was originally announced back in October 2015 and was scheduled to release in November 2016. With its beta canceled prior to the start of Summer, we should have seen the caution flag waving several months ago as today’s news shouldn’t have come as a big surprise for those paying attention to the game’s development.
At this time, Polyphony Digital has yet to give a new release date, although we at least know not to expect a new PS4 racing game in 2016.
Checkmate for Forza Horizon 3, we guess.
