Resident Evil 7 details leaked by ESRB; oops, they are gone now
Apparently, Ethan is hunting for his missing wife. And there are reasons why it will be rated M.
Leaks are fun. You scramble to get the info before it is pulled down, taking screencaps as needed. Such is today's tale of Resident Evil 7 Biohazard and the ESRB.
The ratings board apparently has slapped an M on the game, then went into great detail about why it did so (via Wario64) in the ratings summary (oh, SPOILERS):
"This is a survival-horror game in which players assume the role of Ethan, a man searching for his missing wife in a derelict mansion. From a first-person perspective, players explore the environment and use pistols, shotguns, flamethrowers, explosives and chainsaws to kill mutant creatures. Combat is accompanied by realistic gunfire, screams of pain, and exaggerated blood-splatter effects. As players progress through the story, cutscenes can depict instances of gore and intense acts of violence: a character's arm dismembered by a chainsaw; a man's leg taken off at the knee with a shovel; a character impaled through the face with a shovel. Some areas also depict mutilated corpses with exposed organs/viscera. The words “f**k” and “sh*t” are heard in the dialogue."
Such a wonderful array of weapons. And we have run into the name Ethan before, as it was mentioned by a woman exploring an old dilapidated plantation in Dulvey, Louisiana, during footage of the game from GamesCom.
Capcom obviously was not happy, as the rating has since been pulled. But the truth is now out there, people, so p[repapre yourself for the game's release on January 24 for PS4 (and VR), Xbox One and PC.

Man that sounds amazing! : "players explore the environment and use pistols, shotguns, flamethrowers, explosives and chainsaws to kill mutant creatures. I am so happy that there are weapons(rad ones too btw) and combat, this sounds like it could end up being a gem, can't freaking wait.
Damn ->>> "pistols, shotguns, flamethrowers, explosives and chainsaws" YES!
Did anyone play the PS4 demo btw? Its really good, I dig it.-

Same, that is how I felt.
The cool thing is if you add weapons and combat to the current mix I think it will be really awesome.
Seems like it is trying to be something thing different I am sure a lot will say they should of called it RE and let it just be a reboot(going to get hung up on the name RE7). Personally I don't care.
It be cool if they still make the old style and keep this FPS style as well(two RE franchises branches basically) for I really dig them both.
Will see how it turns out in the end. -

You know you're on the right track when your ESRB sounds like the voiceover to a grindhouse movie trailer.

LOL :) EXACTLY! ^^^^, man I am pumped for it, I can't wait.
I know this is asking for too much but you know what would be insane and why the hell not, chuck in a optional dynamic third person camera mode! Basically its 3rd person and will dynamically morph the camera to 1st person on key horror moments to scare the shit out of you.
That be crazy, either way I can't wait.

My favorite style of horror game is the Last of Us method. Lots of creepy shit, but not a ton of "gotcha!" surprised, and lots of tension because you have very limited resources and most things will kill you easily if you draw attention to yourself.
I don't know if that's really horror or not, but I hope that's how the next RE game is.
