PlayStation Plus membership cost to jump in September
$10 more for a year, $7 more for three months in the United States. Canada gets hit a bit harder.
Beginning on September 22, Sony will be raising the membership prices of PlayStation Plus in North America, with Canada getting hit a bit harder than U.S. players.
The new yearly fee will be $59.99 ($69.99 Canadian), up from $49.99, while the three month renewal will jump to $24.99 ($29.99 Canadian), up from $17.99. The monthly billing rate will remain at $9.99 for U.S. resident, but rise by $2 in Canada to $11.99.
"The new pricing reflects the current market conditions while enabling us to continue providing exceptional value to our members," Sony said in a July 27 blog post, noting that it was the first price increase since teh service launched in 2010. Members won't see the change until their scheduled bill is due after September 22, and can turn off the auto-renewal function on their account if they do not want to continue their membership. If you renew before that date, you will be charged current prices. Of course, if you want to keep playing multiplayer, you will need to renew.
What is interesting is that Sony decided to slip this announcement in on a post that was dated almost a month ago, revealing the free games coming for August, and not in a separate post. It isn't clear if other regions wlll be getting hit with an increase or not.

I've never noticed an issue with the amount you get with PS+ but if I cancel I'd probably need to manage it more.
Looks like 1GB or 10GB for PS+.

No that's some other weird error, actually. I had that once. You have to manually (lol) remove/delete all those notifications about space or whatever and then it will work again.
Seriously.
I'd be surprised if you actually filled up your storage since it's 10GB and I have literally never heard of anyone filling it.

I started thinking seriously about building a new PC when the news about PlayStation Neo dropped. Started buying parts a week ago, and after this I'm more convinced I'm making a good decision.
I had a really good experience gaming on my PS4 the past couple years, but if console hardware is going the way of mobile phones AND they're going to start pricing increases with their online services, it doesn't make sense to me to stay when I'm working with a budget. The whole advantage to consoles, in my mind, was the ability to keep up with modern releases without playing the upgrade game. At this point it seems better to upgrade some PC components every couple years and save on the premiums associated with online services specific to consoles, which now seems to be approaching a $400 dollar hardware refresh every few years. -
