Watch Dogs 2 is all about the hacks
There will be numerous ways to play, from combat to ghost.
Watch Dogs 2 got some decent buzz before and during E3, but as the game gets closer to release, more details are coming, including the ways that you can hack your way through the game.
In a post on the PlayStation Blog, it was revealed that players can hack more of their environment than in the original game, with players choosing just how they want to play as DedSec protagonist Marcus Holloway. “Whereas the first Watch Dogs was all about surveillance, this time we’re focusing on ‘Big Data’ — social media, search engines, and so forth," said Game Director Danny Belanger. "We’re taking these technologies, looking at them, and asking what the risks are, what can happen, what could a hacker do? And we’ve found that we can create some super-interesting situations.”
He said there are now more ways to hack as well, being able to hack everyone multiple ways. Of course, with the game being set in San Francisco, one of the tech capitals of the world, computer savviness is almost a given. And, players can now play through the entire game without using deadly force.
“We’re using three playstyles to talk about the game, Belanger said. "The combat hacker — who is more proactive and uses hacks to take down people. There’s the ghost hacker — they can use hacks to distract and make noises. And then there’s the trickster hacker. They can finish a whole mission without actually physically being there.”
The game is coming out on PlayStation 4 on November 15.
