Jade Raymond provides update on Star Wars titles from Motive, Visceral Games
While Motive continues ramping up its team, Visceral is entering 'an exciting phase of development.'
In case you missed it, EA did what all the cool kids are doing: dropped out of E3 in favor of holding its own event. That event, EA Play, takes place the same week as E3, from Sunday, June 12 through June 14, outside the LA Convention Center, the home of E3.
Ahead of EA Play, group general manager Jade Raymond posted a progress report on the Star Wars projects in development at Motive Studios and Visceral Games. According to Raymond, Motive now employs 65 "industry veterans" and is working on both a Star Wars title "and exploring ideas for our original IP."
Things are further along at Visceral Games in Redwood City, CA, where Amy Hennig works as creative director on another game set in George Lucas's famous galaxy far, far away. "Meanwhile, the team at Visceral Games is forging ahead into an exciting phase of development. Seeing Amy Hennig lead this team through the creative process has been incredible. She is a rare breed of storyteller, and she’s collaborating with the creative leaders at Lucasfilm to tell a new, authentic Star Wars story."
While EA Play may provide an opportunity for the world to get its first look at the Star Wars title in development at Visceral, Jade Raymond confirmed in an earlier update that both Motive's and Visceral's respective projects are a few years out.
EA has said that it has 10 years of Star Wars games lined up per its licensing agreement with Disney.
