Persona 5's release date may finally be announced in a few weeks
Summer is right around the corner, which means this countdown could very well be the release date announcement we've been waiting for.
A special announcement for Persona 5 has been revealed early this morning.
The Japanese website for Persona 5 currently has a countdown clock, which is counting down to an announcement on May 5, 2016. The website has the words “Take Your Heart” displayed along with an image of a mask and a top hat.
The mask and top hat is an obvious nod at Persona 5’s main protagonist, who is nicknamed The Phantom. As The Phantom, the protagonist wears a mask, although we haven’t seen him wear a top hat before. While he’s not the only character to wear a mask in the upcoming game, the style of the mask appears to resemble the one he wears.
Persona 5 was originally expected to release in 2015, but its release date was then pushed back to Summer 2016. Considering how close we are to the start of Summer, we have a feeling the upcoming announcement may be an official release date.

I know it's unlikely, but I hope it's a worldwide release date.

I think it might be. I always had a feeling Atlus was planning on releasing the game across multiple territories at the same time, or at least with a reasonable delay for Western markets.

That hasn't happened with any previous Persona games. Unless you mean the enhanced versions that have come way later.
