Spotify on PS4 and PS3 serves five billion streams within its first year
We guess this means people like to listen to music while playing their games. Who knew?
It’s been over a year since Spotify launched as a part of the PlayStation Music service on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, effectively sweeping Sony’s Music Unlimited service under the proverbial rug. After a year of use, both Sony and Spotify have announced over five billion streams have been delivered.
Both companies have also revealed the most popular artists, tracks, and more across PlayStation hardware and Sony Xperia devices. According to Spotify, Drake, Eminem, and Justin Bieber made it into the top three most streamed artists, while “Lean On (feat. MØ & DJ Snake)” by Major Lazer was the most streamed track in the last year. The most streamed gaming soundtrack was “ The Music of Grand Theft Auto V, Vol. 1: Original Music” followed “The Last of Us”, “Rocket League (Official Game Soundtrack”, “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt”, and “Minecraft - Volume Alpha.”
Unsurprisingly, the weekend appears to be when people listen to Spotify the most as Saturday is the most popular day, while Friday between 8pm to 9pm is the most popular hour in the US and globally.
