The Doom open beta is live; Let the fragging commence
Grab your marine or Revenant and start kicking some ass.
If you aren't playing it already, the Doom open beta kicked off at midnight this morning and will continue through Sunday, April 17. You won't need a key this time as you did for the closed beta.
In the open beta, players will have access to Team Deathmatch and Warpath on the Heatwave and Infernal maps. And if you like the idea of playing the demon, you will get to test out the Revenant in all its glory. The weapons available will be the rocket launcher, plasma rifle, super shotgun, vortex rifle, static rifle, heavy assault rifle, and lightning gun. The gauss cannon is available as a power weapon (limited use), and frag grenades, personal teleporters, and siphon grenade will be the equipment that can be used.
When the game is released on May 13, the Baron of Hell, Prowler and Mancubus will also be playable, while the BFG 9000, and chainsaw will be added to the arsenal of power weapons. Additional multiplayer modes will be Soul Harvest, Freeze Tag, Clan Arena and Domination, while seven more multiplayer maps will be added as well.
The beta is available on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Downloads will vary between 5GB and 10GB, depending on platform. Sorry, no single-player or Snapmap modding available for testing.

It would appear that everyone hates the everloving SHIT out of the new "fake doom". Mostly negative, with only 39% postivie. That's Derek Smart type numbers, right there.

Steam review snippet:
This comes from someone who is totally new to the DOOM franchise and I only play deathmatch mode(more like I can only play this mode only) by the time I wrote this.. I played a bit and I think it's ok but it didn't really feel anything special about it as I thought it would as people keep saying this is a "legendary" game franchise.
Reviewer still gives it a halfhearted thumbs up, but it's sad that for some this is their first Doom experience. -
