Leonard Boyarsky joins Obsidian with former Troika pal Tim Cain
Two thirds of the Troika are back together again. Will Jason Anderson be next?
For anyone that likes good RPGs, it was sad news when Troika Games closed its doors in 2005. Founders Tim Cain, Leonard Boyarsky and Jason Anderson scattered, working on other various projects. But now, it appears that Boyarksy and Cain are together again, this time at Obsidian Entertainment.
Boyarsky mysteriously left Blizzard Entertainment after 10 years at the company, and on April 1, updated his profile picture to a Brotherhood of Steel image. Tim Cain, who already is working at Obsidian, then posted a shot with Boyarsky in the background on April 11. Boyarsky then confirmed his new job when he changed his Facebook profile to add his employment at Obsidian.
The landing spot is logical for Boyarsky, given that he and Cain worked on the original Fallout, and Obsidian has Fallout: New Vegas under its belt. It isn't clear exactly what Boyarsky will be doing at Obsidian, but the company and Paradox recently teamed up for a new game called Tyranny, another isometric RPG along the lines of the recently released and highly successful Pillars of Eternity.
We've reached out to Obsidian to see if they can give us any details on what Boyarsky will be working on, but check out the Tyranny trailer until then.
