Dark Souls 3 suffers from Bonfire crash on PC; quick fix discovered
Are you unable to Praise the Sun in the PC version of Dark Souls 3? Here's how a quick fix for the Bonfire crash.
Dark Souls 3 is now officially available for purchase, but PC players are reporting a major bug isn’t allowing them to progress past the first Bonfire. Considering just how integral Bonfires are in the Dark Souls experience, this can certainly be a cause for concern.
The Bonfire crash isn’t the only thing wrong with the game as a number of PC users have flooded Dark Souls 3’s official Steam page with negative reviews complaining of constant performance issues, crashes, and more. One user even says Dark Souls 3 has crashed a total of 15 times within a 2 hour playthrough.
A temporary fix has been discovered that should allow players to progress past the first Bonfire, which requires setting the Lighting Quality to LOW. If that doesn’t work, it’s also recommended to turn the Auto Adjust Graphics setting OFF.
We've been playing the PC version of Dark Souls 3 for a few weeks now and we've never come across the Bonfire crash, although now that the game is available to a much wider audience, we're not surprised to hear of performance issues considering how From Software treated the platform in the past.
We’ve reached out to Bandai Namco for a statement regarding this issue and will update this story accordingly. For the time being, do as much Sun Praising as possible in hopes a fix is coming soon.
