All 6 Multiplayer Modes for Doom Revealed
Harvest your enemies' souls, freeze them with your bullets, and look good doing it.
Today Bethesda has released a new video on their YouTube which details the six multiplayer game modes that players will get to dominate in. The first game mode revealed in the new video, Soul Harvest, which looks very similar to Call of Duty’s Kill Confirmed, has players running around gathering up the souls of their enemies after they blow them to pieces. The second game mode has players freezing their enemies and thawing their allies in a deadly game of Freeze Tag.
From here the multiplayer offerings take less of a unique formation with modes like Warpath, which has players battling to control a moving control point. Then there are the usual offerings, like Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Clan Arena. Each gamemode looks to pull that fast-paced and gory Doom action into it without any issues, and we’re pretty excited to finally get our hands on the game when it releases on May 13. You can check out the full gamemode reveal in the video below.

Every mp video I've seen so far, there seems to be something off about them. It wasn't the speed, sound, or graphics. I couldn't put my finger on it until just now. There's very little dodging from strafing or fancy maneuvers (from jumps off of ledges or pads). It's mostly people running at each other or someone from behind running at another person.

Fps genre is competitive, there are tons of more interesting games out and bethesda has a fucking awful reputation for supporting its games (see brink) and the state they are released (janky as fuck and on to of that every idtech game since quakewars was broken as fuck for the first two weeks on amd hardware).
On top of that they are trying to use the skin of one of the greatest games of the genre, doom/quake defined fps gaming and this has barely any resemblence to it.
If as a player you had to decide which game you would want to spend money and your limited time on you look at options like overwatch in comparison and that looks way more interesting in every sense of the word and blizzard knows how to ship/support and sustain a mp community like valve does. Bethesda/zenimax, not so much, they recently axed quakelive stats without telling anyone beforehand. People lost years of info. -
it does not look fun at all to me. its not doom, its not quake. its from the rotting corpse of a once great developer, from a publisher whose last major release (while i enjoyed it) was rife with problems, running on an engine that is a giant piece of garbage. and it looks like halo, which is a massive turn off to me. and its trying to cash in on what is a beloved and cherished classic franchise. at least doom 3 was a technical marvel, and had some heart behind it. im firmly in the "i liked doom 3 crowd" so im not just "old man" or whatever.
this looks like "console shooter #147 2016 edition" to me. the apeing of brutal doom also irks me too. -
its a terrible video. look at how all the opponents are turning at the speed of turtles (or not turning at all). it makes everything look like its like basically dumb AI playing against eachother.
the little skulls that drop from the enemies during the "soul harvest" mode are amateur hour. what did they outsource that part to some kindergarten class? the soul harvesting has no soul.
freeze tag has no place in a doom game. and they make it look absolutely boring.
warpath! aka, hey look at my throw an anonymous disc across the map at some enemies. they should call it warpath disc golf
and then the next scene, aka "throw a anon descript blob of electric jelly and see what happens" mode.
