Pokemon Bank adds Regirock, Regice, and Registeel as incentives to join

A trio of special mythical Pokemon with unique Hidden Abilities are being offered as an incentive to pick up the 3DS Pokemon Bank app. And given that you'll need it to bring Red, Blue, and Yellow Pokemon to Sun and Moon later this year, it may be worth the investment anyway.

Both old-school fans and younger Pokemon fans alike saw Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow hit the Nintendo eShop late last month on 3DS. As part of the continuing 20th anniversary celebration, the classic Game Boy games are just as everyone remembers them with a few new features sprinkled in. One of the most exciting features will be that all of those games' Pokemon will be able to make their way to Pokemon Sun and Moon via the Pokemon Bank. But given that the Pokemon Bank goes for $4.99 a year, maybe players will need a little extra incentive to give the app a shot.

Fortunately for those looking for a little more out of their Pokemon Bank, The Pokemon Company is about to make the app a little more valuable. This morning they announced that a trio of mythical creatures are making their way to the Pokemon Bank. They are Regirock, Regice, and Registeel. Those that own Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire may already have these guys in their possession, but for newcomers to the series, this is an easy way to get the powerful Rock, Ice, and Steel type legendaries onto your roster. Even those that already have these Pokemon will find something cool in the form of Hidden Abilities not found on their overworld counterparts.

To get Regirock, Regice, and Registeel, simply link your copy of Pokemon X, Y, Omega Ruby, or Alpha Sapphire to the Pokemon Bank. They can then be uploaded into those games or users can simply sit back and wait for Pokemon Sun and Moon to hit this holiday and bring them up there. But the offer won't be around forever, as the Regis will only be available until October 31.

The mythical Pokemon are starting to come out of the woodwork prior to the newest generation's release. Remember that Celebi is still out there waiting to be claimed if it hasn't already.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
