TwitchCon 2016 will come to San Diego in September

After a successful inaugural year, TwitchCon is set to return this year and it will move to San Diego just two months after San Diego Comic-Con.

After a successful first year, TwitchCon 2016 is officially set for later this year. However, there's going to be a change of venue this year. While the 2015 TwitchCon drew in over 20,000 attendees to San Francisco's Moscone Center, Twitch is moving the party a little farther south to San Diego.

The San Diego Convention Center, which houses events like July's San Diego Comic-Con, will house the second annual gathering of Twitch broadcasters, viewers, and developers from September 30 through October 2. While the convention will host many of the same types of panels and live events held by Twitch's most recognized streamers, as well as some noteworthy game developers, Twitch is also taking some of the lessons learned from last year's event to put on an even better showing this year.

No further information has been given about this year's TwitchCon, but look for more in the coming months, including a tentative schedule and on-sale dates for tickets.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
