The release of Rare Replay introduced a whole new generation to how brutally difficult Battletoads was for the NES. The compilation also included the Battletoads Arcade Game, which some may not have been able to play back in the early 90s.
For this week’s Shack’s Arcade Corner, Greg takes a look at the arcade version of Battletoads, which may or may not have been entirely based on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Actually, I didn't know Battletoads was a coin-op game. That got me thinking about console games ported from coin-op games I never knew existed. Take Double Dragon, for instance. As a kid, I never saw it in arcades. Not once. To me, DD was an NES game. Final Fight, Goldenaxe, Magic Sword, TMNT and TMNT: Turtles in Time -- I played those and other beat-em-ups in arcades, and was familiar with them as such when I finally got to play them at home. But there were some that either never showed up in the handful or so of arcades I frequented, or if they were there, I totally missed them.
