The Witcher 2 added to Xbox One backwards compatibility and is free right now
That's right. The Witcher 2 can be played on your Xbox One right now for free!
Microsoft has revealed additional backwards compatible titles are now available on the Xbox One, which includes the likes of Soulcalibur, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, and Counter-Strike: GO.
Prior to getting to the list of games that have been added to the Xbox One backwards compatibility list, Microsoft is offering The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings for free for all Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners in select regions. The game will be made available for free anytime between now and February 5, which is just a little over two weeks from this writing. That should give you more than enough time to pick up a completely free game to play on either your Xbox 360 or Xbox One through backwards compatibility.
Here’s the full list of new games that have been added to the Xbox One backwards compatibility list:
- Aegis Wing
- Age of Booty
- Counter-Strike: GO
- Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad
- Sam & Max Save the World
- Skullgirls
- Small Arms
- Soulcalibur
- Space Giraffe
- The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

hey, for the resources CDP had at the time, i'd say it's a pretty amazing title. it certainly leaped over witcher 1 technically and story / gameplay-wise.
i love how each witcher is a large jump above the last. really the series is a great example about how to do a proper epic trilogy from humble beginnings.
