Zelda: Twilight Princess HD requires Wolf Link amiibo to access new dungeon

Those without the Wolf Link amiibo will want to bark at the moon after missing out on a new dungeon.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD is coming to the Wii U in March, and just a few weeks prior to its launch we’re learning it’ll have an all-new dungeon, but there’s a catch as to how it can be accessed.

According to an Amazon France listing for the game, The Twilight Cave can only be accessed when the new Wolf Link amiibo is used. Additional Legend of Zelda figures, like Link, Toon Link, Zelda, Ganondorf, and Sheik, can be used in the game to unlock bonuses, such as regenerating your life or receiving more ammo for your bow.

The listing also reveals a Hero Mode will be added to Twilight Princess HD and the Wii U GamePad will be used for inventory management, which can be accessed without needing to pause gameplay. We saw this feature introduced in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, which we assume was a hit for fans considering it’ll also be added to Twilight Princess HD.

At least it comes with the game, so it's like any other shitty special edition bonus.

I know they talk about the figures being able to work across other games but I don't see what other game they are going to let you use it with.

With that new Prime member pre-order discount you can get the amiibo version for around $48. I'm still planning on getting the (I think) $50 non-amiibo version for around $40 with that discount.

Amazon hasn't had it I stick forever to preorder though.

I'd be more upset if I actually liked that game.

I hated the Wii controls, but this version works with the gamepad (GameCube). Makes me kind of intrigued.

Amazon removed that part from the listing.

The original line was: "Unlock bonuses with "The Legend of Zelda" amiibos: Tap all the amiibos for the Zelda series to unlock bonuses in the game, such as regenerating your life, or getting arrows for your bow. The new Wolf Link amiibo even allows you to get into a new dungeon: "The Twilight Cave". The data recorded on this Amiibo can even be transfered to the next episode on Wii U."

More interesting is that you transfer something to "the next episode"? What the hell does that mean?

The source is only the Amazon France listing, so I'm not trusting anything it says yet.

Nintendo said in the Direct that they announced the Amiibo that it would carry over something to WiiU Zelda.

Because its incorrect. Data transfer to Zelda Wii U is the main feature, not unlocking content.

Nintendo has been really good about not gating major content behind Amiibo, instead using it for things like costumes, etc

The Splatoon challenge stages are the worst offender of gated content. The rest is minor.

I'm assuming it's not a traditional dungeon in the sense, something trivial. Dumb idea if it's anything cool, but wouldn't be the first time since they tied unlocks to amiibo in Splatoon already.

A new dungeon I'll never see and bonuses I'll never use. Is this why the game is coming out in March instead of right now? Fuck off, Nintendo
