A whole new season of Diablo III play is set to begin on January 15. But before Season 5 begins, Blizzard has dropped the game's 2.4.0 patch to the public, offering a slew of changes, additions, and rewards to all players.

Patch 2.4.0 introduces Greyhollow Island, a new forested region filled with new enemies with mysterious origins. The answers to the mysteries of this new area lie within, but players will have to survive its horrors first. Accessing this new area is as simple as heading to Act 5 in Adventure Mode and clicking on the upper-right of the map. Existing areas have also been expanded, with the Eternal Woods, The Ruins of Sescheron, and Leoric's Manor all seeing new areas opened up for exploration. New content here includes new enemies, loot, and lore.

Other new features include new Set Dungeons (extremely difficult dungeons that test players against players with a full six-piece class set), Season Rebirths, the removal of Season-exclusive rewards, the debut of console-style Action Combat on PC, and over 50 new Legendary powers. The full list of patch notes can be found on Battle.net. For more, check out the video below.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
