Rumors were previously swirling around a very integral part of what could eventually be Half-Life 3 leaving Valve, and now thy've turned out to be true.

Marc Laidlaw, the sole writer on Half-Life and Half-Life 2, has been confirmed to have exited Valve. The rumor mill got started after a Redditor named TeddyWolf posted an email to Reddit, which divulged that Laidlaw would no longer be a full time or part time Valve employee and "no longer working on Valve games in any capacity."

PC Gamer has confirmed that this is indeed true after speaking with Laidlaw via email. This is definitely an interesting turn of events, and is rather vague despite the explanation of Laidlaw's that he is "feeling a need for a break from the collaborative chaos of game production." It sure is chaos. But what's going to happen next for the Half-Life franchise?

Only time will tell. We'll keep you updated as more details surface.
