Rocket League declares 'Snow Day' in December with new hockey mode
The previously-announced hockey mode for Rocket League is just about ready to go, with developer Psyonix announcing a December 14 deployment date. And it'll come with some holiday goodies, to boot.
It may be Thanksgiving time in the United States, but Psyonix is already looking ahead to Christmas. This morning, the developer announced some new holiday-themed changes coming to Rocket League for the month of December. This includes a big change from the game's soccer-inspired matches to something more resembling a different kind of sport.
Snow Day is slated to officially replace the Mutator Mashup online playlist on December 14, introducing hockey elements to Rocket League. The ball will be replaced with a disc-shaped hockey puck. The new mode will be greeted with new holiday-themed Garage items, including an Xmas Rocket trail, Christmas Tree topper, Candy Cane antenna, Sad Sapling topper, Santa topper, Blitzen topper, and Holiday Gift antenna. These Winter Game items will be sprinkled in among the regular drops, though they'll be a little harder to find. Holiday items will drop from December 14 through January 4, at which point they go in the vault for another year.
This free update will serve as a nice complement (and a sharp contrast) to the premium Chaos Run DLC that's set to deploy next week.
