It’s been over a year since Sekai Project launched its Kickstarter campaign to bring CLANNAD to English-speaking markets. At the time, the company was looking to raise $140,000, but instead, raked in over $500,000 from, and today, we’re learning one of the world’s most well-known visual novels is releasing on November 23 on Steam.

CLANNAD tells the story of Tomoya Okazaki, who is a guarded delinquent that struggles to make sense of the abusive relationship he has with his father, but also to find the meaning to his life after the death of his mother. On his way to school, he meets a unique girl named Nagisa who is nervous about repeating her senior year. After that brief encounter, Nagisa decides they should be friends and has him help her revive the drama club.

The Steam version of CLANNAD will feature improved visuals, achievements, and a Dangopedia. The Dangopedia can be accessed from the main or pause menu to learn what some highlighted terms mean throughout the game. So if this is your first time playing a visual novel, you’ll be able to understand what some of the more unique terms, like Milk Fight and longevity chopsticks, mean.

I tried watching the show, but all the emotion and drama felt forced. is the VN any different?

I've never experienced the VN, but I'd assume it'd follow the anime since it was adapted from the VN. Similar to Steins; Gate.

I still plan on checking it out since it's by far one of my favorite anime series ever.
