Blizzard has unveiled the intro cinematic for World of Warcraft: Legion, which sees the Alliance and Horde take aim at the dreaded Burning Legion.

To wrap up its opening Blizzcon keynote, Blizzard revealed some new information about World of Warcraft's next expansion, called Legion. First unveiled in early August, this expansion explores the return of the dreaded Burning Legion.

In addition to new story content that sees the Alliance and Horde take aim at the resurgent Burning Legion, players can also pick up new weapons of legend that will grow right alongside them. Those that pick up Legion can immediately level a character up to 100, essentially allowing them to skip ahead to the new story content. The expansion is now available to pre-purchase. Those that pre-purchase Legion will also receive the new Demon Hunter character and can access the character early.

Blizzard's Mike Morhaime also announced that WoW would once again be raising money for charity. On December 2, a Brightpaw pet will be made available for WoW users. Proceeds for this purchase will go towards the Make-A-Wish foundation.

World of Warcraft: Legion will invade in Summer 2016.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

Not a bad plan, I might do this next time after being worn out on hardcore raiding.

If they follow through well on their plans for rift-like dungeons, there may be no need to raid!

ohshi son was that an AshBringer lighting up there?

I thought Legion was supposed to bring back the Alliance vs Horde conflict as central to the storyline, yet here right out of the gate the main cinematic shows them co-operating? I confused....

(note: i havent played since early cataclysm so maybe im missing something)

There's probably a betrayal coming. Blizzard has been dropping giant hints that Sylvanas is going to be a "major force going forward", and not in a good way.

I think the biggest question may be whether she becomes a raid boss in this expansion or the one after.

Warlords of Draenor kicked off with the Hellscreams screwing over Gul'dan. He did not take kindly to that and has pretty much unleashed hell.

No that isn't Ashbringer it is http://wowwiki.wikia.com/wiki/Shalamayne (which the story about is so damn stupid).

And Legion was supposed to unite the Horde and Alliance. Pretty much every expansion they say they want to bring back the tension between Horde and Alliance and then end up uniting them at the end.

Lich King they start as enemies trying to seize land in Northrend to unite to fight Arthas.
Cataclysm Garrosh starts to seize Kalimdor and they unite to kill Deathwing.
Pandaria Garrosh blows up Theramore and they all fight until they unite to take down Garrosh and retake Orgimmar.
