Capcom has announced Street Fighter 5 will launch on both PlayStation 4 and PC on February 16, 2016 in both North America and Europe.

Street Fighter 5 will launch with a total of 16 characters, which Capcom expects to add six new characters some time in 2016. All additional characters can be purchased using Fight Money earned by playing Street Fighter 5.

In addition to today’s launch date announcement, Capcom has also confirmed Dhalsim will be a playable fighter. We learned Dhalsim could be added to Street Fighter 5 thanks to yesterday’s data mining report. Additional characters, like Alex, Ibuki, and Guile, were also revealed, although Capcom has yet to confirm their additions.

Update: During this morning's Paris Games Week conference, Sony unveiled a new Street Fighter V trailer with Dhalsim front and center. Check it out below! Capcom's Yoshinori Oni also added that six characters will debut in the first year after launch, all of which can be unlocked with in-game Fight Money.

Are there any good write-ups on how the PC version plays, especially cross-platform multiplayer?

I'm really curious how it goes, since this game's success will probably determine how many cross-platform multiplayer games we see in the future.

They just had a beta this past weekend for PC and PS4 users with crossplay enabled and it worked well.

Yeah, that's why I was asking about a detailed write-up. All I've read about it is a few random NeoGAF posts where some users had pretty bad experiences, others good. Also saw a couple users complain about bad optimization. But they may have just had bad rigs.

I have an older machine and I couldn't run the game at max settings, but I didn't have other any other issues with it.

Cool, thanks. I think the biggest challenge for Capcom will be to make sure the netcode can handle PC players that may be running the game at too high settings and getting bad framerates. Early on with SF4, that would be a problem, and we definitely don't want that to be a PS4's players impression of playing against PC players.
