TwitchCon sees Twitch, Blizzard, and Red Bull participate in competitive events
The usual eSports and competitive gaming suspects will be on hand at TwitchCon, but Twitch, Blizzard, and Red Bull will be getting in on the action, too, taking each other on in some heated competitions.
Twitch has announced a new round of exhibitions and competitions for this months's TwitchCon event. In addition to the usual bouts of eSports, Twitch will also jump into the fray itself with the debut of the Twitch Fight Night series.
The inaugural Twitch Fight Night event will see Twitch CEO Emmett Shear face off against Blizzard president Mike Morhaime in a round of Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, with special guests and surprises expected for this unique matchup. Twitchcon will also play host to a live broadcast of Video Game Championship Wrestling, the Twitch/YouTube phenomenon that sees WWE 2K Create-A-Wrestlers based on known video game personalities go at it. The latest video was released this morning, so for an idea of what to expect, check it out below.
Finally, TwitchCon will host a Super Smash Bros. Exhibition with a bit of a twist. While competitive Smash players are expected to be on hand, Twitch and Red Bull will also face off against each other in a NorCal vs. SoCal matchup. The winner will select the location of an upcoming Super Smash Bros. pro event, where $10,000 will be on the line.
