Watch the Dota 2 International Grand Finals here
This is it! The Dota 2 International is down to three teams. Come join us here at Shacknews to watch the Grand Finals, as well as get some analysis from one of the hardened Dota 2 players in our own Chatty community.
This is it! The final day of the Dota 2 International has arrived! Only three teams remain, with Evil Geniuses taking on the team at LCD Gaming for the right to face CDEC Gaming in the Grand Finals. Whoever's left standing will take home $6,470,659. Here are the final brackets, for anyone that missed them, courtesy of the official Dota 2 International website.
Dota 2 lovers are welcome to join us here at Shacknews and watch the full stream below.

With this being such a momentous day for video games and eSports, Shacknews would like to offer some analysis on what's about to go down today. However, despite having enjoyed this week's events all the way through, the Shacknews staff will admit to having fairly limited knowledge on the subject of Dota 2. That's why we continue to be grateful for having one of the most diverse and knowledgeable gaming communities in the world. So to help break down the action we're about to witness, we spoke yesterday to dedicated Dota 2 player Ian Wilder, better known to Chatty as DozIR_, to offer his analysis. Take it away, DozIR_!
We've seen some great games throughout TI5 thus far. Going into the main event tomorrow we have CDEC. CDEC started out in Wild Card, fighting for a chance to just get into the tournament and now have a solidified a spot in the Grand Final by going 2 - 0 every match in the best of three portion of the event, that in itself is an impressive feat and has blown me away.
LGD knocked out Vici Gaming (2nd place in TI4) today in the lower bracket and Evil Geniuses will be playing them to take a shot at CDEC. I root for the North American teams and EG is one of my favorites, but LGD is definitely going to be putting up a fight for the spot.
One reason I can't wait for the LGD vs Evil Geniuses match would have to be watching Maybe and Sumail face off in the mid lane. Sumail is not only new to Evil Geniuses, but to the professional Dota scene. He's not only arguably the best mid player in the pro-scene, but he is also the wee age of sixteen... and is now playing for $2.8 million dollars. Possibly $6.5 million. I think I chose the wrong career path.
So far, the biggest upset would have to be Team Secret getting knocked out in day four. They were the fan favorites. The Dota 2 subreddit even thought they threw the game on purpose in some crazy conspiracy theory of sorts. I even thought Secret would be taking the shield this year. The fact is that they haven't lost a LAN tournament since the Dota Asian Championship (to Evil Geniuses) and even then they won every match up to the last game.
Today is going to be a helluva day. No matter who wins between EG and LGD, the victor is taking on an opponent who truly fought to get to the top and they're out for blood and showing no mercy. I can't wait for it. TI5 has be a great tournament, far better than TI4 in my opinion, mostly due to the 6.84 game patch. It's a great time to be a Dota 2 fan!
Thank you, DozIR_! MOBA fans will want to give his Twitch channel a look, where he streams games like Dota 2, League of Legends, and Heroes of the Storm on a regular basis.
For those that are still not well-versed in all the intricacies of Dota 2, that's certainly nothing to be ashemed of. Fortunately, the always-helpful Newcomer's Stream will be avaliable today. That stream can be found here.
This is also one of the most anticipated events of the year for the Shacknews community. Watch along with us and don't forget to join the conversation with the rest of Chatty. (Don't be afraid. The community won't bite.)
Also, if you're looking to catch the Dota 2 International Grand Finals on the road, remember that many bars across the country are broadcasting today's matches. A full list of those locations can be found on the Dota 2 International website.

I don't mean the rubick pick by itself, but his decision to go HAM led to the rest of his team trying to support him, which resulted in them getting picked apart. I think EG had the lead at that point, but it was really tenuous and at that stage of the game a bad teamfight or two would have been LGD winning.

Not this early in the grand finals, and especially not with a PL. You make them end it before PL becomes a split push nightmare.
If they can drag this out enough for PL to hit critical mass, and also for QoP and Lesh to become relevant, they definitely have a fighting chance.
That's why I'm hoping EG keep the pressure and try to take some objectives early.

This usually happens. People focus him down while their other cores farm up. Then they switch back to those other cores while Storm comes back. As soon as Storm gets his 6 and decent mana regen. He starts to become a problem.
They were just banking on Storm not having an escape mechanism during the early game.

Tusk begins rolling into a snowball. Allies nearby can be added to the snowball by right clicking on them. Once launched, any enemies caught in the snowball's path will be stunned and take damage. Each allied hero in the snowball will add to its speed and damage.

Not sure really. Cdec knew they were gonna get storm (though I don't think they should have let them, agressif plays a very good storm as well), and they drafted around it. It works well against Gyro as well. Letting the naga go as well may bite them in the end though.
So anyway, hard to say. If EG balls out of control CDEC won't be able to stop it. I think the dragon knight pick is weak as well. He hasn't had a good winrate at TI.

It's more PPD's motivation. It's hard to judge what happened internally, but from the sounds of things AUI was damaging to C9's team morale. PPD kinda acknowledged that he's "too noisy" in game, but PPD rules EG with an iron fist and is THE shot caller.
Also if you watched the first CDEC v EG series, Aui was easily the worst player. His entire team was playing extremely stable, but AUI started to tilt.
I can imagine AUI eroding EE's ability to lead his team (though he still struggled with that after the shuffle). In any case, EE thinks he didn't work for C9 and it looks like he did for EG.

All joking aside, I really don't know what I'm supposed to take away from this performance. I don't see/hear anything redeeming, appropriate, videogamey, or DOTA-y about it. It kinda reminds me of "M4 Part II" from the Mass Effect credits. Like...what? What the fuck does it at all have to do with everything that lead up to it?

This game is really hard to play without a mic: http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/1698495088
Naga had one and sounded reasonably smart and wanted to be a team leader which would have been fine if he was good at it. Saying "don't fight" in team chat doesn't have to the same effect as saying it out loud.I basically have to yell at people ee style to tell them what will win the game which is buying a smoke after I get deso and getting rosh and then using my first life to hit buildings with the rest of my team standing back. I bought s and y because I felt pressured and had to buy something. I would have bought ac if I knew the game would drag so long. I had 250 duel damage but it doesn't matter against void. I have to let the earthshaker initiate and then wait for the void to chrono and then I counter counter initiate the void with blademail bkb and he kills himself on my blademail.
