Electronic Arts continues its Gamescom 2015 press conference with some new information on the upcoming expansion for Star Wars: The Old Republic. The Fallen Empire expansion will indeed run through nine chapters with subscribers able to get it for free at launch. However, BioWare has a new incentive to round up subscribers.

BioWare Austin is expanding one of its current incentives for would-be subscribers. Anyone that subscribes to The Old Republic before August 10 will receive the Nico Okarr companion, adding the legendary gunslinger to your party. Those users will also receive his Blaster Set, Duster Coat, and Knights of the Old Republic-inspired Swoop Bike. There's also an Epic Story XP boost in effect through October 19 for anyone that subscribes before the expansion's arrival.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

Any shackers playing TOR? I keep toying with the idea of trying to play it just for the Story content.

I bought the game before it was free to play so does that count as paying?

For the base client but there have been like 2 or 3 expansions at this point. I think if you sub you get them all though so if you want to play it may be worth subbing for a few months to catch up on all the releases.

I pick away at it every now and then mostly to try to complete the Imperial Agent storyline. The moment to moment gameplay can be a little dull, but the production is top notch and the story is intriguing - I just wish it played a little faster.

Unless something changed you only get the Nico Okarr companion by subscribing before Aug. 10. To receive the other items you have to still have a subscription on certain dates.
