Watch the 3rd day of the Dota 2 International 5 Main Event here
The third day of the Dota 2 International 5 Main Event is about to commence, with one of the big storylines being whether Complexity and Team Secret can bounce back from their brutal losses to get any sort of momentum going. Be sure to watch along with us here at Shacknews and check out the official stream.
It hasn't always been a smooth road, but nonetheless, the Main Event continues at the fifth annual Dota 2 International. Following some brutal losses, Complexity and Team Secret try to stay alive in the Lower Bracket, while Evil Geniuses, LGD Gaming, EHOME, and CDEC Gaming try to keep their momentum alive. This is one of the biggest eSports events of the year, with the first place team taking home $6,470,659. Here are the brackets going into today's proceedings, courtesy of the official Dota 2 International website.
Dota 2 lovers are welcome to join us here at Shacknews and watch the full stream below.

This is also one of the most anticipated events of the year for the Shacknews community. Watch along with us and don't forget to join the conversation with the rest of Chatty. (Don't be afraid. The community won't bite.)
Also, if you're looking to take your Dota 2 International excitement on the road, remember that many bars across the country are broadcasting today's matches. A full list of those locations can be found on the Dota 2 International website.

I don't think secret intentionally lost, the risk is too great. All though if it could be proven, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. They drafted and played super bad relative to their group stage performances.
Still I think the losers bracket is too great of a risk to fool around like that. There are some serious contenders down there, and it would not surprise me in the least if the winner of the whole tournament came from the losers bracket. -
The only potentially valid aspect of this theory is that perhaps they held back on a certain draft methodology or strategy until elimination was a risk. It's dumb to think they wanted to lose though. Everyone has been researching Secret for weaknesses (especially EHOME!) so from that point of view the result isn't a huge shock. The idea that any team at TI5 is invulnerable is silly.
-
-
It was really uninspired drafting which seemed strange to me, which is why I think the more reasonable version of this theory could be true. But reddit trying to turn this into an anime power fantasy plot is pretty laughable. When a TI5 quality team has thoroughly researched you and has figured out some ways to throw you off your game, you can come off looking bad in a match when in reality we should just be impressed by EHOME instead.

These fans would have to be so completely deluded to think they intentionally lost lmao. They are a set of really dedicated, skilled players who pretty much always try hard. Also, the stakes are too high to let yourself drop to the lower bracket, especially so early.
I mean, I'm a huge Secret fanboy, but come onnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

I didn't really like RTZ much before I read that big long 'real talk' thing of him being more introspective, and I have more respect for him.
Envy tries really hard I think and his biggest flaw is being impulsive with team stuff.
PPD kinda plays a troll so I dislike that, but you also need to remember how much these guys all know eachother. He's also a great drafter. -

Well, I can't find the nice screen grabs where puppey whines in skype chat about not being allowed a remake for picking PL (during the QB bug) until he gets a remake. I also can't find the tweets from EE (or RTZ?) calling him out for always whining to the admins about server choice.
It's all kind of lost in the discussion of him calling Merlini a lying faggot or his sexist rant toward Sheever at BTS.

Link to that game's stats. 5k advantage at 10 minutes 8k at 18 minutes. So not even close imo, the COL comeback just now was much more significant.

I wonder how much of the money they will actually see. I have to imagine they have to pay costs for the teams and travel and other such things unless those are explicitly already covered by sponsors. Otherwise, they will at least have taxes.
Still it is a ton of money for these guys, not retirement level certainly, but a solid paycheck.

Imagine the pressure though, million bucks to play a video game? Any dumb mistake lets the other team back into it? I couldn't imagine it. All of this is just nuts. I can't imagine putting the hours these guys are putting into a video game. Some of the interviews pre-match really are shocking (people living on couches, playing 10+ hours a day every day). Just insane.

The light and sound setup in there is fucking intense. I know they've had some serious DDOS/network/whatever issues that impact the gameplay, but the localized stuff is fucking super crazy amazing.
I was there at the end of that game 1. Crazy shit. I have no idea what was going on but the crowd was roaring. Huge comeback I guess!!!
Then, immediately like 4000 people all stood up and it was obvious they were gonna go get lunch, so I bolted the fuck right out of there because I was of course on lunch break myself! lmao -

Not every team composition is good at taking rosh. IRRC shadow fiend's aura works on roshan which helps a lot. Usually you want a source of minus armor or a lot of patience and life steal. Or you could just commit your entire team to killing him. Usually taking rosh is extremely high risk/reward and half the reason you take it is to deny the other team the same advantage. When I play lc I usually wait till I have a deso or an assault curass before taking rosh.

That's what their strength is, which is what Blitz said. He said Secret are one of those teams where their supports are just as dangerous if not more than their carries. Everyone seems to just be as leveled as they need to be to bring damage when needed. And it helps that these track kills are just all over the place at the right time.
