Scalebound, an action role-playing game and bout a magic weilding warrior and his giant dragon companion, was revealed at the Gamescom 2015 Xbox press conference.

Developed by Platinum Games, Scalebound will feature an open-world that can be explored both on foot or on the back of a giant dragon. Players take the role of a human from Earth named Drew, who searches for a powerful artifact with the help of his dragon friend, Tubon. Together, they have to fight through the soldiers of an evil empire, along with ever more dangerous and monstrous foes.

The gameplay reveal takes us to the world of Draconis. Despite the protagonist listening to mustic through a pair of wireless headphones, and throwing a giant firebomb at one point, this appears to be a swords and sorcery fantasy. Drew also has a dragon-scaled arm, which probably links him to his companion. It might also explain Drew's wide range of fighting abilities and the power to summon a full dragon armor set and pull off hit combinations. Once a giant crature, like a mantis, is defeated, Drew absorbs its powers as gems, likely to increase his own fighting prowess.

As an added bonus, Scalebound will feature 4-player cooperative multiplayer, so adventurers can come together to battle the world's biggest monsters using four fighters with their own giant creature companions.

Scalebound will release in fall 2016.

Oh fuck me, this has the scrolling damage numbers from enemies during combat too? This is the dumbest trend in gaming recently, I didn't even use that pointless shit when I played WoW, it just looks ridiculous.

I was bothered much more by the main character needing to put on headphones for his jams before combat
